UC Berkeley Excludes Professor Peter Dale Scott Off Its List of “9/11 Faculty Experts” -
UC Berkeley Includes Torture Briefs Professor John Yoo On the List
The University of California at Berkeley has endorsed 20 of its professors as "faculty experts" on 9/11 with the following statement: "For journalists covering the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, UC Berkeley has more than 20 available experts on the tragedy’s impacts and implications." Most notably on the list is "Constitutional Law" professor John Yoo, who took a leave from university duties to serve the Bush-Cheney administration by writing legal briefs to justify the use of torture in the wake of the crimes of murder and destruction on 9/11. Of the 20 “9/11 experts” on the university list, Yoo appears to be the only one with a book with 9/11 in the title, “Confronting Terror: 9/11 and the Future of American National Security” due out in Sept 2011, according to the press release.
Most notably missing from the list is UC Berkeley professor Peter Dale Scott, who has been among the most outspoken critics of the "official conspiracy" story given to the public by the Bush-Cheney administration and the 9/11 Commission Report written by Executive Director Philip Zelikow.
Yoo actually worked against the separation of powers in that his legal briefs claimed that the President had the power to take the country to war, to bomb anywhere, including US cities, and that he could order the use of torture. How can this man be considered a "Constitutional" law professor or an expert on the events of 9/11? His prior book, “Crisis and Command”, is an apologia for all presidents who violated the US Constitution and Bill of Rights throughout the history of the United States. Yoo is a devotee of Cheney's all powerful “unitary presidency”.
Peter Dale Scott’s work on 9/11 was published by the prestigious University of California Press, notably “The Road to 9/11”. Other Scott authored books include, “Fueling America's War Machine: Deep Politics and the CIA's Global Drug Connection”, 'The War Conspiracy: JFK, 9/11, and the Deep Politics of War”, “9/11 & American Empire: Intellectuals Speak Out”, edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott. Furthermore, we recommend SF Bay Area professor Dr. Paul W. Rea, who has previously published “Seeking the Truth about 9/11”. He has the just released “Mounting Evidence: Why We Need a New Investigation of 9/11”, which reflects years of research and provides an insightful and incisive overview of essential 9/11 issues. There will be a book release celebration on Sept 21 at 7 pm at Humanist Hall, 390 - 27th St, Oakland, CA, 94612 between Telegraph & Broadway.
